Carrot Cake, Cobbler and Cider

Meet Heather and Hallen (1).

Heather is a self-taught baker who tweaks family recipes to create scrumptious treats like our Moon’s Cafe Island Time carrot cake. Next up is her chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting and chocolate raspberry ganache. We’ve sampled both, and just like Hallen, we are wholehearted fans!

Bill, Henry and Sue visited us daily while vacationing on Marrowstone.

These Bostonians loved our homey vibe and are big fans of our Pane d’Amore scones, Chimacum Grainery beer and Molly Moon’s Ice Cream. We think you look great in our merch and hope you’ll be back soon!

Someone needs to applaud Luis, Paxton and Cooper’s parents for raising kind young men.

Cooper began kayaking to our store at five and told us mom pays for treats when he kayaks. This trio fished every body of water near Marrowstone (catch-and-release except for the elusive dream salmon). Have a great junior year!

Jennifer, Glenn, Myles and Mimi have been making summer pilgrimages to Marrowstone since 2004.

This Minnesotan family was happy to say goodbye to their state bird (mosquito) and hello to our bountiful wildlife. They appreciate the sense of community at our store and genuine smiles from staff. Their daily shopping included produce, local beer, coffee and pastries. And their final visit was spent hunting for local gifts for friends at home. Thank you for spreading the love!

Courtney had a vision of peach blueberry cobbler.

So she visited our store where she found all of the fruit, ginger (secret ingredient!), heavy cream and baking ingredients she needed. Her recipe called for 12 ingredients…and we had them all! See below for her finished masterpiece. And yes, she grabbed ice cream for a final touch!

Nate, Marlene, Caleb (9) and Colin (7) visited us from Twisp.

This sweet family found candy for the boys, a foraging book for Dad and store merch for Mom. Seafood chowder and crab cakes were on the menu for this family…all using Marrowstone harvested ingredients. We expect nothing less from a fish biologist with a passion for salmon recovery!

Curious about foraging, fishing and harvesting locally?

Chelsie has thoughtfully curated book guides that will improve your knowledge and confidence in living from our bountiful land and sea. “A Rockhound’s Guide” has sold out, but we’ll have more on the shelves soon!

Aunt Sara, Zadie (14), Roxanne (12), Joel and Rachel are celebrating ten years on the Olympic Peninsula.

They love our rural, coastal feel and being close to their food sources. Aunt Sara, visiting from Los Angeles, said being on our island is like stepping into a nature bath. These good people appreciate our high quality, diverse offerings and strongly recommend Rachel’s Mystery Bay Farm goat cheese. Best quote? “Everyone here is intertwined; giving what they can, and valuing what others give.”

Bird & Blossom Cidery’s grand opening is August 29!

Sandy and Duncan came to Marrowstone eight years ago with a dream and 20 apple trees. Today, they have 285 trees and a goal: cider made only from Marrowstone fruit. Our favorite? The rosé. Come by for fantastic cider, stunning mountain views and a dog-friendly vibe. BYOF (bring your own food) from our store for a perfect picnic!
