Adventures, Treats & Island Beats
Richard polished off his “strawbabies” while proudly explaining how he broke his wrist on the monkey bars.
Nine more days until the cast comes off! He hasn’t let it slow him down — he’s still painting, drawing, and strolling the beach. His mom says the store is a bright spot in their week and loves visiting from Port Ludlow for drinks, produce and treats.
Fill up while you can on organic berries, stone fruit, figs and melon.
We’re grateful to the farmers who grow with such care, and to our volunteers who keep our produce fresh and beautiful. Big thanks this week to our volunteers Katie and Jim!
Chris and Heather zip around Marrowstone on Honda scooters, taking breaks from city life in Seattle.
Chris came to the Nordland store as a kid for penny candy, and now he can’t resist our smoked fish, crackers and ice cream. Heather says our produce is “something special.” We’ll take it! Vroom vroom.
Karla and Rafael (2.5) come to Marrowstone from Seattle to visit friends on Smith Road.
These cuties love to swim, clam and look for sculpin under rocks. Karla says our community store is “darling” and she especially appreciates shopping our local products. Rafael loves our friendly porch bear and colorful geraniums!

Gabby (7) and Oscar (4) visited us daily during their two week Marrowstone family vacation.
Gabby’s favorite store treat? A peach. Oscar’s? Starbursts. They also approve of candy hamburgers, pizzas and ring pops for lunch. These two loved visiting their grandparents, aunts, cousin and friends on the island. Their favorite Marrowstone adventure: beach combing for pristine white shells.
Amy, Arya and Alaria (6) sailed from Seattle into Mystery Bay.
This family loves anchoring in different bays and exploring new shores. They said it’s uncanny how many of their favorite items show up here — from gluten-free snacks to new books for the boat. Mom calls the store “cute and homey”. We know you love exploring new places, but we hope Marrowstone can be a regular destination for your sweet family.
Steve and Andrea enjoyed summer libations in Mystery Bay using vintage Nordland General Store pint glasses.
Boat time was even better with a yummy charcuterie platter from our store; Coro salami, Mystery Bay goat cheese, Cypress Grove goat gouda and Bella Capra goat cheddar. Add organic Thomcord grapes and it’s summer perfection!
Steve traveled to Port Townsend to visit his Aunt Mary Jean and Uncle Peter.
They stopped at our store after an afternoon Fort Flagler stroll. These longtime visitors know how much it takes to keep our store open and support us whenever they can. They love Marrowstone’s secret driveways that vanish into the woods. Favorite store treats: ice cream, cookies, and croissant bread (French toast magic). Thank you for treasuring our slower speed of life.
Jessica and Robert stopped by for snacks after kayaking from East Beach to Mystery Bay.
They paddled through challenging turbulence, crab pots and playful seals. Robert is (per Jessica) obsessed with building wooden kayaks. Next up is a woman’s boat crafted to accommodate Jessica’s large feet. Her words, not ours. This adventurous duo circumnavigated Marrowstone three weeks ago. Their 19 mile journey took seven hours. Robert is retired coast guard search and rescue and Jessica is a retired massage therapist. Sounds like a perfect combo for safely completing and recovering from long journeys. These two belong to Olympic Peninsula Paddlers which does important work like Kinney Point clean up and rescue instruction.
