Jumping Into 2026 Together

Meet Annabelle (2) and Max (6).

Max already runs his own retail operation, buying goods from our store and reselling them at his own shop in an old oyster hut. He even keeps a fire going to warm his customers. Hot Wheels are accepted as currency. Annabelle, of course, shops free because “she’s my sister.” Max, come see us in ten years. We’ve got a job waiting for you!

Polar Plunge 2026 brought plenty of hearty souls charging into the new year with gusto.

Families leapt in together and bravely treaded water for a full three minutes (thanks, Dad!), seasoned cold-plungers laughed it off in winter hats, and a few bold jumpers and divers showed off truly Olympic-level form (summer or winter?). Huge thanks to Tom and Sue for keeping this invigorating tradition alive. What a way to start the year!

Aaron, Meg, and their girls—Hattie (3) and Genevieve (5)—visited us from Idaho.

We’re lucky to see them often thanks to family ties on Marrowstone. Meg says our store is “super cute” and loves our focus on local makers. We’re happy Pane d’Amore is your favorite bakery and hope you found special treasures on your beach walks!

Shannon, Jerry, Cindy and Ron visited us from Port Orchard while renting an island house for New Year’s.

Their celebration plans included an impossible puzzle and tasty drinks, both supplied by the store! First-timers Shannon and Jerry declared the store “10× better than expected”, praising the inviting layout and bountiful organic produce.

Six-month-old Bruno stole our hearts.

So much so that we made an exception and let him into the store for a photo with his dog parents, Rebecca and Rob. The humans love having a store account. Saying “put it on my tab” makes them feel like true locals! They raved about our coffee, produce and swag. We hope they’ve discovered where we keep the dog treats.

That’s Hilary and Ben with our fabulous general manager, Sam.

Hilary just completed a marine systems course at the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding and is now ready to tackle any mechanical or electrical challenge afloat. Handy, since she and Ben live aboard a 65’ tugboat moored in Port Townsend. Their boat, P&T Pioneer, was built in 1951 and packs 400 square feet of living space. You might also recognize Ben as a bosun on the Coupeville–Port Townsend ferry. Our store is always a little brighter when these two are aboard. Keep an eye on P&T Pioneer. We’ve heard rumors of future dinner cruises!

Join us on Saturday, January 17, for a conversation with Port Townsend author Erica Bauermeister as she discusses her newest novel, No Two Persons.

This exploration of how the same story can touch each of us differently has us intrigued and ready to curl up for a rainy-day read.
Copies are available at the store!
