Wendy, Paul, Willa (5), and Joon the mini doodle stopped by while camping at Fort Flagler.
Willa and her grandparents raved about our fruit, coffee, toys, and local gifts. In true island spirit, Willa scavenged the beach for perfect rocks, painted them, and tucked them back for lucky beachcombers to discover. Look for one special rock featuring Wendy and Willa!
Andrea spent a golden fall week on Marrowstone and quickly declared our store an island gem.
A self-proclaimed kale super-fan, she was thrilled to find Lacinato/Tuscan kale in all its crispy, vibrant glory. Visiting from Pensacola, Florida, Andrea said it’s clear we’re invested in local farms, makers, and artisans and she loved the strong community vibe. Her verdict? You could do all your weekly shopping here without ever leaving the island.
Jim, Tamara, Joanna, Lori, Mike, and Paul all have deep roots on Marrowstone.
As kids and young adults they spent vacations crabbing, kayaking, Polar Bear plunging, and parading on Tractor Days. On their return, they were delighted to find the store still sporting its familiar flower boxes and classic signage and even more thrilled to spot Zotz candy from their childhood. These grown kids couldn’t resist becoming salty dogs on the porch once again!
Vintage 80s photo of Mike with his stepdad Ralph and mom Anne, selling Scow Bay oysters and clams on Flagler Road. Just $3.50 a dozen!
Jilly greets customer with a warm smile as she hustles coffee drinks, rings up groceries, and shares local advice.
But did you know this petite dynamo has fished albacore commercially since she was 12? Based in Hawaii, she chased runs all the way to the International Date Line. We wish we had a video of Jilly working 10 fishing lines during a hot bite! Her record catch was a 63-pound albacore, and on her biggest day she hauled in nine tons.
Nick, Pat, Gary, Deb, and (accidentally) Mark squeezed together for a sunny porch photo.
Gary and Deb said our store reminds them of the general store in Friendship, Maine where they got married. They signed their marriage license on the store freezer, asked the clerk to be their witness, and carried a bouquet of wildflowers gathered by the witness’s husband. As for Mark? He wasn’t part of their group but we pulled him into the picture anyway. That’s how new friendships are made on our porch!
Laura is one of our newest islanders.
Born in Joshua Tree and most recently living in Santa Barbara, she headed north in search of that perfect mix of ocean and forest. It was love at first sight when she landed on Marrowstone, and her island love story grew when she discovered our store (and all our gluten-free options). Welcome, friend!
Meet Tom, one of the Bothell wavers.
For the last seven years Tom has waved to passersby in front of his home from 7 to 8 am every morning. He knows how to make people feel welcome and even gave us a porch-side demo while enjoying an ice cream. His take on our team? Friendly and welcoming. We’ll take it!
