Living in Paradise. Summer Edition.

We strongly support pajamas all day long.

These lucky siblings: Solomon (6), Rebekah (3), Naomi (4) and Jeremih (7) visit Marrowstone every summer. Store favorites include animal stuffies, ice cream + sprinkles and visiting Nana (Sarah!) while she works at the store. This is the first summer Jeremih was allowed to kayak to the store!

Jen has been a major supporter of our store since the day we opened.

She loves our well-tended produce and says we have what she needs for a yummy stir fry, salad or grilling with neighbors. Whether it’s a local oyster treat, hand crafted earrings for a friend or a candle gift for her favorite auntie, Jen says we have her covered!

Charlotte and Kristy recently visited friends on Marrowstone.

They said our island feels like a loosely kept secret and every moment on the island is a photo opp. Both appreciated daily visits to the store for coffee, cookies and local artisan crafts. We were thrilled to overhear them say they could do their regular shopping at our store. We hope these two teachers will return on their next school break!

Jessica, Liam (15) and Rob recently visited from Seattle.

They are repeat Fort Flagler campers and love to hike and bike the park. They recommend the Fort Flager hospital tour (their guide wore period clothing!) and were looking forward to battery tour. These nature and history buffs said crossing the bridge onto Marrowstone is like entering another world. Jessica is a union electrician, Liam is a D&D adventurer and Rob is a welder and fabricator. We could chat on the porch for hours with this family!

Meet Gina and Bob from Port Ludlow.

These two dynamos walk Flager daily with their super mutt Ursa. They time their island visits to enjoy Marrowstone Vineyards and to buy Chimacum Grainery bread from our store on Thursdays. Gina is a sommelier and said our wine selection is top knotch! Bob does salmon habitat restoration work with local tribes. We think a fish and wine pairing might be on the menu!

Erika and Ella are a mother daughter pair from Olympia who visit Marrowstone annually.

Not pictured here is grandma who was relaxing at the rented farmhouse waiting for happy snacks to appear from our store. These lovely woman told us our community feels peaceful and accepting, even if you aren’t a resident. They appreciated our selection of mementos and good food with mindful ingredients. The three generations loved being able to walk to the store from their home away from home!

Kyle and Kelly celebrated their recent one year anniversary with bubbles and flowers from our store.

These newlyweds told us our store feels like a step back to a simpler time. They appreciate traveling down the road a short distance for breakfast treats, ice cream and delicious libations. They said no day is complete without a trip to the store to see who’s around and to admire the front flower boxes.

We had a lovely porch chat with Arwen and Alejandro who were camping at Fort Flagler.

These Poulsbo visitors impressed us with their foldable kayaks and paddles. We checked out the boats inside their car and were awed by the small size. They came to see us for beer and ice cream after hiking and paddling. They noticed our local Millbrook Clayworks pottery features animals they saw while visiting Marrowstone like heron, crab and kingfishers. Best compliment of the week, “you have way more ice cream options than we expected from a general store”. We do know how to make people happy!

Jess, Nana (Joyce) and Jeffrey have a combined 128 years of family history on Marrowstone.

Jess’ parents bought property on the west side of Marrowstone in 1959 and Nana’s parents (Jeffrey’s grandparents) bought property on the east side in 1962. Fast forward almost 60 years and Jess and Jeffrey were introduced at our store, stoked their romance in front of the old wood stove and now shop regularly as a joyfully married couple. We love hearing about connections made at our store!
